Testimonies of Healing

My first impressions of Christian Science are drawn from experiences I had as a young girl when I was with my grandmother, who was an earnest student. At one time, her reading from the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.

Christian Science has flooded my life with peace and joy. It has given me the right concept of God and His creation, and has kept my family and me in splendid health for many years.

It is over thirty years since my wife and I began the study of Christian Science. We were then members of a church, the services of which were ritualistic, but we were seeking something more satisfying in a religion.

When I was in my teens, my parents took me to a Christian Science practitioner because they had been told about a healing of a business associate of my father's. I was physically and mentally exhausted, and my appearance was alarmingly changed as a result of exophthalmic goiter.

One summer I spent my vacation hiking along the beaches of Oregon. Shortly after I started, some sand got in my boot and caused a sore on the heel.

The past thirty years have brought me unnumbered proofs that, when Christian Science is correctly applied, healing is inevitable. My brother, a busy medical physician of the allopathic school, was the first to tell me of a healing.

Although reared among Christian people and taught to reverence the Bible, I felt that it was written in code and symbol and not understandable. However, I was sure that some day someone would bring to light a key which would reveal its hidden meaning.

I am grateful beyond measure for the privilege I have had since childhood of seeing the practicality and ever-availability of Christian Science demonstrated in our home. This thorough foundation in the understanding of the Principle of Mind-science proved a particular protection during my college years, when I was subjected to the argument of modern philosophies.

Jesus said, "This is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. " It is comforting and inspiring to recall these words of the Master's in view of the fact that I have been interested in Christian Science from childhood and have had many opportunities to study and apply this blessed truth.

I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to Christian Science for healings, for blessings too numerous to mention, and for the protection that I have experienced over a period of twenty-five years. The words found in Hymn No.
