Testimonies of Healing
When a lad attending school and later in college, I was an enthusiast over athletic exercises of all kinds, particularly base ball and tennis. I spent much time in active participation in these games, and in consequence certain diseases were believed to have been contracted.
Sadness and sighing have been the angels in disguise which led me to find the "light that shone in the darkness. " An endless longing to lift the arm of the weary toiler, to soothe the brow of the tired and world-sick, a yearning to lead man out of his sense-beclogged, hopeless existence, a far-reaching love and sympathy for the little helpless babe, uncared for and neglected,—these are a very few of the reasons why my heart reached out for the fountain of the living waters which our beloved Teacher and friend, Mrs.
I desire to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. About six years ago I was seriously injured internally.
Should I be asked to enumerate the blessings Christian Science has brought to me in the span of the three years during which I have tried to live its loving, holy precepts, I could but answer that they are too numerous to mention, but I cannot resist citing a few instances of God's ever-present help. My husband, whose health was in a very precarious condition, the after-effects of a long siege of pneumonia and grip and despair, clung to the promise that his health and happiness could be restored, and tried Christian Science.
The difference in the practical working of scholastic theology and of theology as taught in Christian Science has been strikingly demonstrated to me through experience at differing periods. In early womanhood I was a member of an orthodox church, and a faithful attendant upon the church services.
Since finding Christian Science, the pearl of great price, there seems to be a constant song in my heart which at times will not be silenced, but must express the gratitude I feel to God for all the harmony that has come through the revelation of this wonderful truth. In reviewing the past two years I am simply overwhelmed, the blessings are so many that come crowding into my consciousness.
I desire to tell through the Journal what Christian Science has done for me. Some six years ago I was taken sick with the grip while living in Indianapolis, and as a consequence of this, together with a generally poor state of health, I found myself suffering from incipient consumption, so pronounced by three reputable physicians.
Several years ago my mother had a wart on her face, just under one eye. She thought little or nothing about it until finally it began to grow and be inflamed, causing much annoyance and some uneasiness.
It is about thirteen years since I first heard of Christian Science through the healing of the mother of a very dear friend of mine, of cancer. And yet, strange to say, though I knew of this wonderful healing, perfect in every way, I did not become interested in Christian Science until three years ago.
