I am indeed grateful to Mrs. Eddy for having established the Board of Lectureship, for it was at a Christian Science lecture that I was healed. About five years ago my husband and I walked into a Christian Science church in Chicago, out of curiosity, to hear a lecture. A year before hearing of Christian Science I had spent four months in a hospital and undergone two severe operations and was told to come back at a later date, as I should have to undergo two more operations, and that in the meantime I should have to take a great deal of medicine. At that lecture I received my healing.
My little girl, then about two years old, was suffering from intestinal trouble. At one time when there was no action for nearly three weeks, the doctor declared she would have to undergo an operation or she would have to take medicine all her life: but I preferred to give her the medicine. During the lecture mentioned above, my fear about the child vanished, and she has never had any more medicine and never had a return of that ailment.
We have studied Christian Science ever since and have the privilege of sending our three daughters to the Christian Science Sunday School. I am indeed grateful to God and to Mary Baker Eddy, who has given us this beautiful truth and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which enables us, when its teachings are rightly applied, to solve any problems, no matter what they may be. I am also grateful to the loving practitioners who have stood by me when the trials seemed too great for me to work out by myself. The best way to show my gratitude is to try to live the life of a true Christian Scientist. I deeply appreciate every channel which Mrs. Eddy has provided through which to learn more of this beautiful truth.—Chicago, Illinois.
