Christian Science came to me...

From the July 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science came to me in answer to my prayer to God for a religion in which I could wholeheartedly believe. Within a few-days, a neighbor gave me a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel and asked me to read it, saying it would help me. When I read the first article, I knew Christian Science contained the truth I had been wanting; it seemed the most wonderful thing in the world.

I began reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and my health, which had been poor, began to improve. We have had many healings in our home. Measles, mumps, whooping cough, influenza, and smallpox were very quickly overcome. We have had many other healings, and have been most wonderfully protected from accidents on several occasions.

When I had been studying Christian Science for only a short while, we moved to the Mojave Desert to help a member of the family prove up on a desert claim. When we had done all we could do there, an opportunity came for us to go to another place. The man who had been on this place was moving back to town, and wanted my husband to take over. We agreed that it was a splendid opportunity, but I felt we should wait until we had more money. While my husband went to see the owner of the property, I read an article in The Christian Science Journal which said we do not need to wait for good, for, since God is ever present, we always have all we need. All fear of lack left me. When my husband returned, he told me that the owner of the property had offered to let us have what we needed to carry on, rather than have us go in debt. I told my husband what I had read, and I thought that was the answer. We moved to this place, and after six months, when it seemed right for us to return to our old home, a buyer was waiting, and a satisfactory sale was made. During our stay there, we had everything we needed, and saved more money than we had ever done before in that length of time. When we came back to our old home my husband promptly obtained work with good pay, work which he continued for more than twenty years.
