I am truly grateful for Christian Science. Through the years since I became a student of this wonderful teaching, I have had many healings. My first healing was that of a nervous breakdown from which I had suffered for over five years. I had been under the care of doctors and had used medicine during this time, but grew worse instead of better. Then my sister came to visit me. She had just recently been healed of tuberculosis through Christian Science.
She encouraged me to seek healing through spiritual means, and I agreed to visit a practitioner. Although I went with little hope of healing and did not feel that I got much from the interview, after returning home I felt like a different person. I slept soundly that night, a most unusual experience for me. In the morning I awakened with a feeling of joy and happiness, and I went about my work singing. I had received my healing, but did not realize it until after I had made several more trips to see the practitioner.
It was revealed to me that my trouble had been caused by grief over the loss of my seven-months-old baby. When the practitioner explained to me that there is no death, my consciousness was filled with joy that God is Love and does not send sickness, sin, or death. During my illness I had read the Bible and prayed, asking God to spare me to rear my two small children, whom I felt needed me very much. This prayer was answered as Christian Science unfolded to me. I have had the joy of seeing the children grow to manhood and womanhood.
