Those of us who have had Christian Science all our lives know that no one is ever "born" a Christian Scientist. Such a one still must learn to use effectively the truths which he has been taught and to adhere to divine Principle, God.
Although I had had some remarkable physical healings through the application of Christian Science, many years went by before I was willing to advance beyond its mere letter. Only as I began to demonstrate more fully the pure Christianity which bases this Science, did I begin to deserve the name "Christian Scientist."
As a child, I never knew a sense of happiness. Seldom did I smile, and often I felt ashamed of even being alive. Also I used to be painfully shy and would either cross the street or look hard in another direction to avoid having to speak to an acquaintance. Another error that handled me for years was that of taking things which belonged to others. And although I knew it was not in accord with Christian Science, I used to pray earnestly not to be discovered.
