Testimonies of Healing

I have had many healings in Christian Science,...

From the April 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have had many healings in Christian Science, but there is one in particular I should like to write about.

A few years ago I slipped on some ice and struck my chin on the concrete curb. I was so stunned I could not even answer my young son, who was inquiring if he should call his father. I sat upright and began to declare the truth as best I could, still not thinking very clearly. The boy went home, which was about a quarter of a block, and got his father, who put me on my feet and helped me home.

During the experience I held to the fact that nothing inharmonious had happened or could happen to God's child. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony." After several hours the jaw, which must have been dislocated, because I could hardly open my mouth, returned to position with a decided snap.
