Late in the nineteenth century when my grandparents were in great need of help, a neighbor gave them a copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Through reading and studying this book both were healed, and led active, useful lives for many years. Since that time Christian Science has been a very rewarding way of life for several members of our family.
In the textbook may be found a favorite passage of my mother's and grandmother's (p. 244): "Man in Science is neither young nor old. He has neither birth nor death." It has been my privilege to prove the truth of that statement increasingly in my daily life since my retirement a number of years ago as a principal of a large elementary school. The falsity of the belief that man's decay is inevitable has been demonstrated in my life, with the result that in the past several years I have been freed from many of the problems of age. Diseased organs have become sound, and my teeth are in fine condition.
Daily I am finding that in an unlimited degree man is really never less than the true and perfect reflection of God and all His qualities. When error appears in the form of weakness or weariness, the following Bible verses help me maintain my true being (Isa. 40:28, 29): "Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength."
