Testimonies of Healing

In 1945 a dear friend in whose presence I said that I should like to be freed from selfishness handed me the Christian Science textbook by Mrs. Eddy.

As a Christian Scientist of the second generation, I am profoundly grateful for Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and for her revelation of it to this age.

Through the door of Christian Science I walked into a whole new experience. I had a happy childhood and was always a sincere student of the Bible and the teachings of an orthodox church.

Shortly after I was married, I found myself very much in need of a cure for hay fever, which had plagued me for several summers. Remedies I had used gave me no relief.

Through the years I have had many healings not only of physical difficulties, but of faults of disposition, lack, and a sense of separation. When our son was a baby, my husband and I took a cottage at a beach hotel.

When our son was born, the doctor said that he could not save either the baby or me. However, through the effective prayers of a Christian Science practitioner we both lived, and today, many years later, our son is a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church in which he is active on committees.

A call on a new neighbor to borrow a cup of sugar for my mother resulted in my introduction to Christian Science. It was quite well known among the children in the vicinity that this woman and her husband, a quiet, happy couple, were Christian Scientists, and that they did not go to doctors.

God has truly brought me "out of the house of bondage" ( Ex. 13:3 ), into a wonderful spiritual freedom.

I want to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science and for having been brought up from babyhood in a home where it is cherished and practiced. I have seen many healings take place in our home through the study and application of the truths of Science.

My first healing in Christian Science was that of granulated eyelids. This condition, together with sties, had plagued me since early childhood.
