Testimonies of Healing

So much good has come into my life since I took up the study of Christian Science that I feel I should no longer put off sharing some of my experiences. My first healings were of rheumatism, tonsillitis, and chronic colds.

With a deep sense of love and gratitude I should like to relate some of the many blessings and healings that have come to me through the teachings of Christian Science. Everything that I have I owe to the study and application of the truths given in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

My gratitude for Christian Science is too great to be expressed in words, but I feel I should share some of the blessings which this religion has brought into my life. I was a healthy girl in my teens at the time Christian Science was presented to me by a friend, and my first reaction was a desire to save my friend from having anything to do with it.

For many years I have relied upon God for healing, protection, supply, and happiness. As a child I was subject to all the so-called children's diseases, and I suffered broken bones and other mishaps.

It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I acknowledge the healings and blessings which have been mine over a period of many years through Christian Science. Following the advice of a physician who declared that only Christian Science could free me, I turned to it for help.

It was some time after I came to America from France that I first heard of Christian Science, but at that time I was not ready for it. About a year later, when doctors were unable to diagnose a condition which was troubling me and were not able to relieve me of intense pain, my friends gave me the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.

In 1920 I was in a large hospital in this city with an infection of a toe. A consultation of four physicians resulted in the decision that amputation was necessary.

Like many others, I have great cause for gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and also to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for the blessings I have received through her teachings. In particular I should like to express my thanks to God for the following two experiences.

Just as Moses led the children of Israel for forty years from the land of bondage into the promised land of freedom, so for forty ears Christian Science has led me into continually greater spiritual freedom. Through Mary Baker Eddy's revelation of divine Truth all may be delivered from the darkness of the carnal mind.

I am grateful to have been raised by parents who were active in the Cause many years. As a child I was considered frail by family friends and neighbors, but Christian Science protected me from most childhood afflictions, and for a number of years now I have lived a normal, active life, which has included college activities, two years of graduate work, and the raising of a family of three active youngsters.
