Testimonies of Healing
Christian Science came to me in the year 1905, when I was far from home and family. Previously I had only heard of this Science.
Christian Science has changed my whole outlook and has transformed me into one who enjoys happiness, health, and freedom. The happiest day of my life came over six years ago, when a dear friend presented to me a bundle of Christian Science literature.
About thirteen years ago, while looking for a new church home, I was invited to attend the Sunday service in a Christian Science church. I accepted, and the peace and harmony which I felt there were wonderful.
For all that the study of Christian Science and its application have brought into my life, I am profoundly grateful. My first healing, after intense suffering with what physicians regard as a fatal malady, came at a time when to material sense there was little for which to live.
It is with great gratitude that I wish to tell of my healing through Christian Science. I was stricken with influenza during a so-called epidemic, which left me an invalid for nearly seven years.
It is with deep gratitude that I give this testimony of the healing power of Christian Science. For nearly nine years I had been ill; and at the time this Science was presented to me I was in a desperate state of mind, having had an X-ray examination—after two major operations a year previous to this—and having been given little hope of ever being well again.
This testimony is sent with the desire that it may encourage those, whose healings seem slow, to press on. I have been seeking the truth for about four years and have received a number of healings and many blessings.
For ten years I was sick. I bought patent medicines by the case, twelve bottles at a time, and tried many other cures, without help.
These days of unemployment and readjustment in the business world frequently remind me of an instance which occurred the year after my graduation from high school. After being employed for about a year, I was greatly disturbed when told that the business had been offered for sale and that my services would no longer be required.
" Heaven is not a locality, but a divine state of Mind," writes our Leader on page 291 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and on page 587 of the same volume among other definitions of "heaven" she gives "harmony," "spirituality," "bliss. " Everyone who has experienced healing of mortal discord through the application of Christian Science has had, in some measure, glimpses of heaven and its glories.
