Testimonies of Healing
In 1926, when I came to Christian Science, I was a physical, moral, and mental wreck, suffering from a nervous breakdown caused by worry, drink, and disappointment in friends. But what I thought at the time was a terrible calamity proved to be my greatest blessing.
I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for all it has done for me and mine. I am grateful to Mary Baker Eddy for giving us our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
For many years I have been enjoying the testimonies in The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel, and I feel it is a duty and privilege to add mine to the many thousands. Sixteen years ago I walked into a Christian Science church because of curiosity.
I am deeply grateful for what Christian Science has done for me and mine. When I took up the study of this Science I had been almost an invalid for years and had tried all kinds of treatments, but was no better.
It is not only a blessing, but a joyful privilege, to be a student of Christian Science. Christian Science is a practical religion, the teachings of which, when properly applied, will solve our every problem, will meet our every need, be it physical or mental, in business or at home.
At this time I feel impelled to write an expression of gratitude for the healing power of Christian Science as it has been manifested in my experience for the past twenty-seven seven years. From the time that I was fourteen years of age I was a seeker for a practical religion through the reading of the Bible and activity in church work.
When still a young student of Christian Science I experienced a very painful sinus infection. I sought aid in Christian Science but seemed to receive no benefit.
When quite a young girl I first heard of Christian Science through the healing of a much loved sister. Reputable physicians had said that she would never be able to walk again.
Some years ago our eldest girl was troubled with tubercular glands. She was only five years old, but had been through three operations with only temporary results.
About twelve years ago I was laboring under what is known as a nervous breakdown. Receiving little help from the kindest medical attention, in a moment of despair, hungrily reaching out for help, I asked my physician what would aid my helpless, despondent condition.
