Testimonies of Healing
Nearly sixteen years ago a neighbor made the statement that through Christian Science she had been relieved of the fear of taking cold when she realized that if God is everywhere there is no place for harmful winds. That way of acknowledging only one God was so reasonable to me that I wanted to know more of the teachings of this religion, and eagerly read copies of the Christian Science Sentinel and The Christian Science Monitor.
Christian Science has met my every need since I started attending the infant class in the Christian Science Sunday School. Our family came into this wonderful religion through the healing of my brother of an abscessed ear which physicians said could not be cured.
Many years ago I came into Christian Science seeking peace. The teachings of my former church, that God sends sickness and death as well as the blessings of life, had been instilled into me from childhood but gave me little concern, since ours was a happy home with no serious illnesses.
My first healing in Christian Science, occurring sixteen years ago, was that of organic disturbance, said to be incurable by the physicians and surgeons who treated me. An operation had been performed with the expectation of healing, but only a very short period of relief was experienced.
On January 18, 1928, I went into Winnipeg to consult a surgeon in regard to what physicians had pronounced a cancerous growth, from which I had been suffering intense pain. I had previously had an operation for this trouble, at that time one breast being removed.
Christian Science was first presented to me by a neighbor at a time when I was experiencing extreme grief and ill health. Some authorized Christian Science literature was given me to read, and being greatly impressed I later accepted an invitation to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting.
I wish to express my gratitude to God and also to Mrs. Eddy for the rich discovery of Christian Science.
It is with a heart full of gratitude, which words cannot express, that I submit my testimony to the healing power of Christian Science and the benefits derived therefrom. As a child I was subject to bilious attacks accompanied by chills and fever; later in life I suffered with sick headaches and neuralgia.
I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science, and for the lessons we learn through this divine truth. One year while skating on an ice rink, I fell, and immediately exclaimed that I had broken my leg.
The following is an expression of gratitude for blessings received through Christian Science. In September, 1930, about ten days before school started, our eldest daughter was taken sick with what I thought to be neuritis and sinus trouble.
