Testimonies of Healing
I wish to express my gratitude to God and also to Mrs. Eddy for the rich discovery of Christian Science.
It is with a heart full of gratitude, which words cannot express, that I submit my testimony to the healing power of Christian Science and the benefits derived therefrom. As a child I was subject to bilious attacks accompanied by chills and fever; later in life I suffered with sick headaches and neuralgia.
I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science, and for the lessons we learn through this divine truth. One year while skating on an ice rink, I fell, and immediately exclaimed that I had broken my leg.
The following is an expression of gratitude for blessings received through Christian Science. In September, 1930, about ten days before school started, our eldest daughter was taken sick with what I thought to be neuritis and sinus trouble.
It has been my desire for a long time to express my gratitude for Christian Science by sending a testimony to one of our periodicals. To tell of all the healings I have had, both spiritual and physical, would require too much space, so I will mention just a few.
I have had many healings in Christian Science, physical, financial, and mental, and have been led, step by step, through a problem which threatened to wreck my life, and for which there was no earthly solution; but thanks to Christian Science and to a most loving practitioner, who helped me to see the unreality of it, the experience turned out to be one of the greatest blessings that have ever come to me. The healing that stands out particularly at this time is one that took place about three years ago.
About three years ago, through Christian Science, I learned the truth about God and man as His perfect idea. Since then I have had many healings, some of physical ailments, such as nervousness, colds, constipation, hay fever; and also healings of unlovely traits of disposition, such as resentment, self-love, hatred, and self-will.
It is with gratitude and joy that I send in my testimony for the Journal. The Christian Science literature holds an important place in our home.
When Elisha healed Naaman of his leprosy, it is recorded in the Bible that "his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child. " This passage of Scripture stands out to me through a proof of God's power to heal today as in the earlier centuries.
When Christian Science was presented to me about twenty-four years ago, it found me a mental and physical wreck as a result of epileptic fits in the worst form, which I had as often as three times in one day. After trying some of the best specialists of the United States and many kinds of treatment, but getting worse all the time, I asked one of the best doctors in this locality if he would tell me the truth if I asked him a serious question, and he said, "Yes.
