Testimonies of Healing

When Christian Science was presented to me about twenty-four years ago, it found me a mental and physical wreck as a result of epileptic fits in the worst form, which I had as often as three times in one day. After trying some of the best specialists of the United States and many kinds of treatment, but getting worse all the time, I asked one of the best doctors in this locality if he would tell me the truth if I asked him a serious question, and he said, "Yes.

Three years ago, when to mortal sense all seemed dark, Christian Science was brought to my notice by a friend living in a distant state. I had written her a very miserable letter, telling her of the illness of my mother, who had heart trouble, pronounced incurable.

I wish to tell of a very quick and beautiful healing which I received nearly three years ago, and which was brought about through the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner. I was brought home from the hospital in a very weak condition.

For some time I have felt a great desire to give testimony to the healing power of Christian Science. To my knowledge I am the only Scientist in this Territory.

About eighteen and a half years ago, when I was living in the outskirts of a small town far away from my home town and friends, Christian Science was brought to me by my sister, who had been healed almost instantaneously of an ailment which two doctors had said only an operation could heal, and that such operations were fatal nine times out of ten. She knew very little of Christian Science, but left me some literature.

Among the many blessings derived from the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy for which I wish to express my gratitude is my speedy recovery from a compound fracture of the hip. At the time I was a long distance from home, and having no one with me who knew of Christian Science I was taken to a hospital.

Five and a half years ago Christian Science first came into my life. I was in the depths of despair and without faith in God or man.

" Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy. " I want to be accounted with the one leper who returned to give thanks to God for his healing, for I owe a lifelong debt of gratitude to Christian Science, and to our Leader, Mrs.

When I was a child, my" father taught me the Bible from a strictly orthodox standpoint, stressing, however, the power and availability of prayer. This I accepted as the keynote of Christianity, and early formed the habit of taking everything to God in prayer.

From my early childhood, until years later when our son manifested a severe case of eczema, I had often wondered why the healings of sickness and sin as practiced by the prophets of old and later by Jesus and his devoted followers could not be performed in our day also. I little realized that this blessing was soon to come into our lives through the study and application of Christian Science.
