I wish to express my unbounded gratitude for Christian Science and all the blessings that I have received from it. My mother began its study when I was about five years old; hence I have no recollection of any other teaching. When I was about eight, I was healed of a sore finger through my repeated declaration of the words, "There is no pain in Truth, and no truth in pain," from page 113 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. My mother did not know that this statement was in Science and Health until she heard me repeat it. I must have learned it in the Sunday school.
While at college I availed myself of the loving assistance of a practitioner whenever it seemed necessary. One healing was of dengue fever. I was well in two days, and there were no aftereffects.
After I married I began to study Christian Science more regularly, and persevered although I was in a small town far from Science friends, and my husband was not interested. During many years the literature has been more of a blessing than words can express. My first baby was born six weeks prematurely. As friends called in to see her, I felt as though they had spoken the words, "She will not live." I told the practitioner who was working for me of this impression. There was immediate improvement, and the baby progressed, although she weighed only about four pounds at birth.
