The testimonies in our periodicals have been a great help to me. Through the study and application of Christian Science, I have gained mental peace and physical freedom. The Bible has become a storehouse of treasures to me through this study. Over thirty years ago I was healed of astigmatism; this healing has been permanent. Immediately afterwards I entered the Christian Science Sunday School, and this proved to be a valuable experience to me. I am grateful that my children could have the same privilege.
Fourteen years ago our youngest daughter was healed within a week of inflammatory rheumatism. In 1939 she was overcome with carbon monoxide gas while on a trip, but in three days she was completely free.
Five years ago I suffered from rheumatism, which caused me a great deal of pain. The help of a practitioner was requested. This condition continued for some time. Finally, the practitioner told me I must declare my spiritual perfection at all times. Earnestly I began to do this, with the beautiful result of complete freedom, which has been permanent. During a trying situation I was wonderfully sustained. The Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, the articles in the periodicals, and the faithful services of a practitioner, helped me to turn my thoughts completely to reliance on God. The truth of the Psalmist's words, "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them," was proved in this experience; also Mrs. Eddy's words in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 220) were very helpful to me: "Each day I pray: 'God bless my enemies; make them Thy friends; give them to know the joy and the peace of love.' "
