Testimonies of Healing

It is with a heart filled with gratitude that I send my testimony of the healings received through Christian Science. It was through a very dear friend who herself had been benefited that I first heard of this wonderful teaching.

For many years I had been a very weakly woman, suffering from a prolapse peritonitis, and stomach trouble also many minor complaints, and the physicians had pronounced my case incurable. In 1903.

I feel that I should acknowledge the blessings that have come to me through the study of Christian Science and the loving help of practitioners. A serious illness lasting through several years began with what the doctors called chronic appendicitis.

I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing but because it answered all the questionings, doubts, and yearnings for a more practical religion, that had been mine since girlhood. And it was the satisfying explanation of the life and work of Christ Jesus, which had previously seemed to me to be like the story of some beautiful wonder-working Greek god, but of no practical avail to us.

For thirteen years our family of four have depended solely on Christian Science for healing. In the family we have experienced the healing of diphtheria, bronchial trouble, bowel and stomach disorders, colds, influenza, rheumatism, and indigestion, also of the result of accidents.

I have had so much help and comfort from reading the testimonies of others in the Journal and Sentinel that I should like to add my mite of gratitude for all the blessings which have come to me through the study of Christian Science, the more so as I am at present living away from any Christian Science church or society and have not the opportunity of expressing my gratitude at the Wednesday evening meetings. I am especially grateful for the spiritual uplift and the protection which I have experienced, and for the healing of influenza, and other ills which at one time embittered my life.

When I first became interested in Christian Science it was not because I thought I wanted physical healing but because I wanted a more practical religion and a better understanding of God, both for myself and my young children; but very soon I had proofs of physical healing. I had worn glasses since I was a young girl, for a very bad form of what was believed to be inherited astigmatism.

I have somewhere read, "Our only excuse for living is that we may glorify God. " Now I desire to glorify God and to bear witness to the power of Truth (which is God) by testifying to the wonderful healings which have come to me through reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy, in conjunction with the Bible.

I am grateful to God, to Christ Jesus the Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for the revelation of the glorious truth which makes free.
