Testimonies of Healing
In 1967, when I was working among very young children in a nursery, I noticed that I was gradually losing use of my arms. By the end of the week I had to stop work.
In mid-1972, I left my job of fourteen years because it seemed to me progressive to take another. The time between this event and the wonderful resolution of my employment situation was over a year, but it proved to me in a way I shall never forget that "a man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men," as is stated in Proverbs ( 18:16 ).
From what I have proved of Christian Science, I am sure it is possible for anyone to "be born again" ( John 3:7 ), regardless of age, race, or present physical and moral conditions. At the age of seventy-two, in desperation I started to study the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.
Mary Baker Eddy writes in the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures ( p. vii ): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings.
My first experience with Christian Science was when, as a child of nine, I boarded in the home of Christian Scientists. I spent almost two years with them and grew fond of the youngest daughter in the family.
[Original in German] Six years ago when our son was being medically examined for school entrance, the physician explained to me that the child's tonsils would have to be removed. She gave me a note for a throat specialist who would take care of admission to the hospital.
In 1925, a neighbor who was struggling with a physical problem was told by the doctors they could do no more. Someone recommended Christian Science to her.
For more than fifty years Christian Science has guided, comforted, and healed me and my family. I was a little girl when my parents were first introduced to this religion.
As a young person I had a natural trust in good. In time this was challenged, and I found the teachings of the church I attended did not answer my questions or help solve my problems.
A little over three years ago my husband lost his job, and this brought me a series of problems. Fear and worry took hold of me, and as a result I became very ill.
