
Testimonies of Healing
Christian Science came to me about eleven years ago through the complete healing of a friend, when medical specialists had pronounced death imminent from tuberculosis in its last stages. When I had been interested for about a year, I experienced a beautiful healing of sorrow and unhappiness within a period of two months through the earnest and consecrated work of a practitioner.
To one in a seafaring life the sustaining comfort of Christian Science is invaluable, for it assures us that our loved ones are always cared for, as God's children; it teaches us to say in quietness and confidence, "I will fear no evil; for thou art with me. " During a long tour of duty in the South Seas I contracted a chronic tropical disease.
Mrs. Eddy gives us this arresting message on page 450 of the textbook, Science and Health: "Some people yield slowly to the touch of Truth.
Recently I experienced a healing through Christian Science treatment, for which I am deeply grateful. Many erroneous laws of mortal mind were proved powerless during the experience of childbirth.
I became interested in Christian Science through an experience I had while I was in a hospital. I had undergone a serious operation, and a sedative was given to me day and night to alleviate the severe pain from which I was suffering.
In my experience as a student of Christian Science there have been many beautiful demonstrations of the omnipotence and omnipresence of God. Rheumatism in the hip, which had caused many nights of suffering, was healed in a short time by the help of a dear friend, who has lovingly helped me in times of need.
I have long wished to express through our periodicals my gratitude for Christian Science and its revelation of the truth of being. I had taken a lively interest in the orthodox church of which I was a member, but the time came when it no longer satisfied me.
It is with joy that I give this testimony. For several years it has been my desire to take this step, but timidity about writing has held me back, and now I cannot put it off any longer.
It is difficult to tell in a short space of the transformation which Christian Science brings into one's life, and one's consequent gratitude to Mrs. Eddy as its Discoverer and Founder.
Many years ago I first attended a Christian Science service. Desire for a consistent explanation of the Scriptures was the motive which led me there.
