Testimonies of Healing

It is nearly twenty years since I first attended a Christian Science lecture. I was then ready to inquire into this teaching, and soon knew that I had found what I needed.

We read in the Bible, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy. " We have had protection and numerous healings in our family, including those of measles, scarlet fever, whooping cough, and smallpox, some with the help of practitioners, and some through our own understanding.

I have a great desire to give my testimony to the glory of God and in grateful confirmation that Christian Science, through divine power, heals disease and liberates from sin and human passions. In the spring of 1938 I suddenly became ill with thrombosis in both legs.

From my earliest recollection until the age of twenty I attended the Christian Science Sunday School, and Christian Science has been my only physician. However, I was not awakened to the higher spiritual purpose of Christian Science until the passing on of my mother, when I realized my need for a change of thought from a material basis to the spiritual.

Ever since I read (about twenty-five years ago) the first line in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (Pref. , p.

Christian Science first came to the attention of our family when an aunt, who had been an invalid for many years, returned from California healed through this Science. Although then but a child, I had always believed that the healings given in the Bible could be repeated today.

It is with much gratitude that I testify to the healing power of Truth as found in Christian Science. Some years ago my little girl was sent home from school with a note from the school physician, saying that she had a weak heart, and that she must not be allowed to run or play strenuously, because the exertion might prove fatal.

How grateful I am for Christian Science! Reared in a Christian home, taught to love the Bible and to turn to God in prayer, I found myself dissatisfied, as I matured, with what I had been taught of God. One day it dawned upon me that the prayers I offered were effective only to the extent that I put into practice my desire to be better.

With a deep sense of gratitude for what Christian Science has brought into my life, I offer this testimony. I have applied myself earnestly to the study of all Mrs.

About fourteen years ago I began the study of Christian Science, desirous of knowing more about a religion whose truths had healed me almost overnight of a very distressing and painful condition of the throat, diagnosed and treated the day before as quinsy. The result of medical treatment had brought only an aggravation of the condition, and a great sense of disappointment and disillusionment caused me to turn in my extremity with open heart to a practitioner of Christian Science for help.
